Individual Skill Development and Enhancement

I grew up in a broken home, experiencing homelessness as a young child. My early years were filled with instability and pain, leading me into juvenile detention and eventually adult incarceration by the age of 19. For a long time, life didn’t get better—I just got better at avoiding the justice system. But behind the scenes, I was still lost in a 25-year battle with opioid addiction that cost me my marriage, my family, and left me homeless again from 2017 until 2022.
Desperate and broken, I finally asked for help. I entered three back-to-back treatment facilities, spending nearly a year in inpatient care. But even after all that, I relapsed. I had begun to lose hope—until I met a peer support specialist at the age of 38. He was someone who, like me, had grown up in the prison system. But he had turned his life around. He believed in me even when I couldn’t believe in myself. He walked beside me without judgment, offering support through every mistake and every step forward. That unconditional presence changed everything.
In my recovery, physical fitness became a turning point. What started as a way to cope turned into something much deeper—it gave me freedom from myself. Through working out, I began to feel better mentally, move better physically, and gain confidence in how I looked and carried myself. Fitness became a daily practice of discipline, growth, and self-respect. That journey led me into personal training, where I now have the opportunity to help others achieve their own goals, build confidence, and experience the same transformation that helped save my life.
Today, I have the incredible opportunity to offer that same kind of support to others. I know what it means to fall and to rise again. And I am committed to walking alongside those still in the struggle, just like someone once did for me.
