Individual Skill Development and Enhancement
I was born and raised in Black River Falls, WI. I came from a good home. Although, growing up I felt that my parents were way too controlling. As a teenager I became very rebellious and defiant. I didn’t know then, that those terrible feelings in my chest and stomach were from anxiety. My anger and anxiety developed into an eating disorder around age 15, as a way to cope and take control of something in my life. I moved out of my parents home at age 17 and quickly got involved with drugs, alcohol and an extremely unhealthy and abusive relationship. My use of drugs continued to get worse as a way to cope with the pain and abuse. Eventually I found myself addicted to meth. This then led to multiple jail visits, treatments, and eventually prison. I was lost, broken, depressed and hopeless. I had lost everything. But it was there that I found my faith, and in that, I found hope.
I moved to Eau Claire in 2022 for a fresh start after my release from prison. Here, I’ve found an amazing community and support of people in recovery. Through my church, AA, NA and Life Recovery as well as Our Dwelling Place Sober Living. Because of this, I’ve been able to build my life up from nothing.
Today, I have a life restored. I’m happy, I’ve learned to cope with stressors and anxiety in healthy ways, and I have a life that is free from the chains of addiction. My gratitude for this new way of living overflows to my desire and passion for helping others see that there is hope for them too.
In my free time, I love to be active, I go to the gym regularly, I love to ride bike, hike, explore nature, dance and hula hoop. I’m very involved with my church and I love any kind of arts and crafts.
