Individual Skill Development and Enhancement
I grew up moving around as a child through several small towns in NW Wisconsin. I was raised by my single mother on a small hobby farm. I have a younger sister, and 4 step-siblings and a step-father that were introduced later on in my childhood. Consistency in my early life was not something I knew well and male figures were regularly in, and quickly out of my life. We struggled to make ends meet, and from a very young age I struggled with trust, teaching myself how to cope with the life I was given.
Thankfully, after third grade I remained in the same school district which offered just enough stability and opportunity for me to participate in sports. Through football, basketball, baseball, and later track, I was able to develop and maintain a consistent group of friends that helped keep me on a good track through most of my youth into adulthood.
I now spend my free time traveling when able, staying active through lifting, and several outdoor activities such as rock/ice climbing, hiking, camping, and mountain biking. These are activities that have brought so much positive and therapeutic change into my life. As someone who previously lacked the resources, role models, and knowledge necessary to access many of these activities, I know that change needs to happen in these spaces. Through peer support and mentorship, I believe that I can influence change and make a positive impact in the lives of others.
