Individual Skill Development and Enhancement

I was born and raised in La Crosse WI and still live in the home I have lived in since I was two. My parents were hard working, good people with good morals and values; but both loved to drink. They met at the bar every night after work and there was always plenty of beer in the

fridge; heck, we even went to the bar after church on Sundays. I consider myself fortunate; I never went without. I always had the things I needed; food on the table, a roof over my head and clothes on my back. My parents weren’t outwardly affectionate or into talking about feelings, but I knew they loved me.

I got married at 22 and started a family at 24. I have a wonderful husband and 2 amazing children. I have always been a people pleaser, which is a blessing and a curse. I find great joy and purpose in helping others, but the constant need for approval and perfection can be stressful and mentally exhausting. It has also put me in some compromising situations which I am not proud of. I have been medicated for depression since after the birth of my daughter in 1998. Although it is generally under control it still shows itself when life gets hard. I find comfort, support and strength through physical activity, communication, and strong connections with others.

I believe that TRUST and RESPECT are the foundation of the best relationships. Sometimes being honest has gotten me in the most trouble, but it has also brought me the most peace. I think it is important to work on our physical, emotional and mental well-being every day and try and do just a bit better than the day before.

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” -Winston Churchill
