Individual Skill Development and Enhancement

I grew up in a small, quiet, town in Western Wisconsin. Growing up, I participated in many sports, including two years of middle school football with the boys. I  wanted to prove to myself that I could do anything I set my mind to. Along with football, in my high school years, I participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball.

After high school and the start of college, I was feeling a bit lost with my life. I really did not have any direction with what I wanted to do or goals for life. I didn’t even  keep in contact with a lot of my high school friends after I graduated. Luckily, I had a friend who encouraged me to join the college basketball team with her, so I did.  But, I noticed basketball was not the same as it used to be, as my increasing weight made it really difficult to keep up at that level. It made me feel really bad about  myself, as I never really thought about my weight being an issue before. I had always just accepted that I was big boned and that is why I was overweight. It wasn’t until a couple months later, a girl on campus made a comment about me wearing workout clothes, that I broke down. It was a pain I never wanted to feel again, so I  knew I needed to make a change.

This change was not easy for me. I was so used to eating the way I did, that I thought I would never be able to lose the weight.  Yet, small step after small step, it happened. It took awhile, but eventually after a little bit over a year, I conquered the task of losing 100lbs completely on my own. It  was through this process of motivation, discipline and rediscovery, that I grew emotionally, mentally, and physically as a person. I was always labeled the shy girl
when I was younger and overweight. But I could see now, I was not shy. I lacked self confidence, and had no drive for life. Through this remarkable change, and  discovering myself, I found a new positive outlook on life that made me accept change, rather than fearing it. This experience has made me become a strong  confident woman.

After the completion of my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I had the drive to continue my education, to pursue a master’s degree in Applied  Psychology. I am also a CrossFit Coach. I greatly enjoy assisting others reach their fitness goals, as it was something I had already been through. I knew if I could do it by myself, that I could be an inspiration for others. Along with helping and motivating individuals to reach their fitness goals, I also enjoy going on adventures and exploring with my husband Tyler, and teaching tricks to my German Shepard Remington. With everything I have experienced throughout life and the struggles I have been through, I want the opportunity to use my motivation, discipline, and self-confidence to inspire  others to achieve their own goals, whether it be physical, mental, or emotional.
